Job summary

Raytheon’s San Diego Depot Factory seeks a Machinist to perform advanced machining on mills and lathes, design tooling, and collaborate with design engineers to create and repair components for critical production lines. You will ensure quality and produce parts to tight tolerances in a fast-paced, high-skill environment.

This onsite, first-shift role requires reading blueprints, GD&T, and working with various CNC machines.

Qualifications

• Typically requires HS diploma or equivalent with minimum 6 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with CNC programming and manual inspections using classic gauges.
• Experience with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and reading engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced machining operations on mills, lathes, and other shop equipment.
• Design and fabricate custom tooling and fixtures.
• Collaborate with design engineers to bring prototypes to finished parts and repair machining as needed.
• Evaluate and verify part quality using inspection controls and measurement tools.
• Develop machining techniques in a high-mix environment with shifting priorities.
• Review machine setups and production cycles on various equipment.
• Program and operate CNC equipment including lathes, grinders, and mills.
• Design and modify tools, jigs, and fixtures without formal drawings.
• Control machine settings to meet tolerances and finishes.
• Inspect machinery across multiple areas and conduct quality inspections.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work instructions.
