• High school or trade school machine shop diploma or equivalent.
• Must work with moving mechanical parts.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs., repeatedly if necessary.
• Able to work overtime and any schedule needed for production support.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Measure, mark, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece.
• Select, align, and secure holding fixtures and tools on manual machines.
• Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed and feed.
• Observe machine operation to detect malfunctions and adjust as required.
• Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
• Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy.
• Assemble parts into complete assemblies and verify alignment.
• Install machined replacement parts and test operation of unit.
• Operate welding equipment to cut or weld parts.
• Operate metal cutting band saws and chop saws.
• Develop specifications from general description and draw sketches.
• Consult with maintenance and production personnel to resolve problems.
