GALLO is seeking a Level 5 Mechanic (Cellar Machinist) in Modesto, CA, to machine, fabricate and repair winery equipment with precision. You will use lathes, mills, drill presses, and surface grinders, following blueprints and engineering drawings to tight tolerances.

This journey-level role requires five years in a job-shop setting and the ability to work any shift, with overtime as needed. You’ll collaborate with engineers and maintenance teams, maintain equipment reliability, and support

Qualifications

• High school diploma or state-issued equivalency certificate.
• Five years of journey-level job-shop machinist experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work within tolerances of ±0.001 inch when required.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Ability to work any shift and overtime, if necessary.
• Ability to stand or walk up to 90% of the workday.
• Ability to frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to provide and maintain the required machinists hand tools and precision measurement tools.
• Ability to comply with company GMP policies.
• Required to be 18 years or older.

SHIFT: We are hiring for 2 positions, one will be Swing Shift, the other will be Grave Shift.

Join Gallo as a Level 5 Mechanic (Cellar Machinist), where you’ll play a critical role in supporting winery operations through precision machining, fabrication, and equipment repair. In this journey-level position, you’ll independently machine, modify, fabricate, and repair plant equipment and components using blueprints, engineering drawings, sketches, equipment manuals, physical samples, and verbal direction.

You’ll work with a variety of machine-shop equipment including lathes, mills, drill presses, and surface grinders to produce high-quality parts that meet exact specifications and tight tolerances. Your expertise will help maintain equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and support safe, efficient production operations.

What You’ll Need

• High school diploma or state-issued equivalency certificate.
• Five years of journey-level job-shop machinist experience.

How You’ll Stand Out

• Experience as a manual machinist.
• Experience consistently working within tolerances of ±0.0005 inch when required.
• Experience using machinist tools, micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, and other precision inspection equipment.
• Experience fabricating components from blueprints, scaled drawings, sketches, or physical samples.
• Experience with AutoCAD drawings and Fusion 360 Drafting.
• Skill in measuring physical components and creating scaled dimensional drawings suitable for fabrication.
• Experience setting up, operating, and maintaining machine-shop equipment, including lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and surface grinders.

• We offer a broad salary range to allow for long-term growth. Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by multiple factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. In addition to the salary, this position may be eligible for bonuses, incentive plans, or participate in tasting room tip pools, as applicable.
