Job summary

ESAB in the United States seeks a Machinist / NDE / Physical Test - Lab Technician to join the QA, Product Compliance and Tested Orders department. You will set up and operate manual and CNC equipment to produce weld metal test specimens and document results.

Collaborating with lab staff, you will prioritize testing activities, prepare radiographic test assemblies, and work toward Level II RT/MT/VT competencies while maintaining calibration records and ensuring safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; 5–8 years of related manufacturing, machining, laboratory, or technical experience preferred.
• Experience in manual machining, and CNC machine setup and operation.
• Strong mechanical aptitude; maintenance/troubleshooting experience preferred.
• Proficient with computers for data entry, documentation and communication.
• Self-motivated with ability to support multiple laboratory functions and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and maintain manual and CNC machining equipment to produce weld metal test specimens.
• Inspect specimens for dimensional accuracy and document inspection/test data.
• Prioritize machine shop, radiographic, and physical testing activities with lab staff.
• Prepare test assemblies for radiographic examination and produce acceptable radiographic images.
• Maintain calibration records and support laboratory operations; promote a safe working environment.
