Job summary

North Wind Services is seeking a highly skilled Machinist IV to support the Manufacturing Engineering Section at LLNL in Livermore, CA. Under minimal supervision, you will provide journeyman-level machining, operate CNC and conventional tools, and collaborate with shop personnel to meet complex specifications.

DOE clearance eligibility is required. Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, 18+, pass pre-employment screenings, and be prepared for swing shifts and overtime.

Qualifications

• Journeyman-level machinist with 4+ years of experience.
• Read and interpret ASME Y14.5M blueprints to produce parts.
• Experience in CNC programming and machining.
• Knowledge of material properties to optimize speeds, feeds, and depths.
• Ability to work shifts/overtime and meet safety requirements.
• Able to obtain and maintain DOE Q clearance.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate conventional and CNC machines to fabricate parts from diverse materials.
• Fabricate complex hardware requiring advanced machining skills.
• Select speeds/feeds to meet drawings and tolerances.
• Document new machining processes and procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety in the work area.
• Coordinate with shop planners and supervisors on production tasks.
• Perform duties following ES&H and security policies.
