Job summary

Altec in Duluth, MN is seeking a hands-on machinist to support machining and assembly of aerial device components. You will operate CNC equipment, read drawings, and verify dimensions with precision tools while maintaining daily records and safety practices.

You will assist with NC programming, perform rework, and inspect parts to ensure conformance to specifications. This role emphasizes cross-training, teamwork, and commitment to Altec's values in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Welding tech or machining degree currently in process.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Ability to read tape measures, blueprints and schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC machining equipment and related machinery.
  • Read drawings, determine critical dimensions/tolerances, convert decimals and fractions.
  • Assist with numeric controlled programming.
  • Perform rework and repair tasks as needed.
  • Inspect machined parts and verify conformance with specs.
  • Use measuring equipment to ensure accuracy.
  • Load/unload components and tooling and maintain time records.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and APS.
  • Cross-train by moving to other production areas.
  • Train and assist new/current associates and uphold safety
  • Maintain clean work area and tools; adhere to PPE policies.
  • Demonstrate Altec core values.

Job description

To support machining and assembly of aerial device manufacturing.

Responsibilities
  • Operate CNC machining equipment and other equipment as required.
  • Read drawings, determine critical dimensions/tolerances/diameters, calculate conversion between decimals and fractions.
  • Assists with numeric controlled programming
  • Perform rework and repair tasks.
  • Perform inspection of machined parts.
  • Use measuring equipment to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Load and unload components and tooling.
  • Maintain daily time records.
  • Support APS (Altec Production System) initiatives. May participate in continuous improvement events.
  • Move to other work areas in order to support production needs. (Cross-train)
  • Effectively assist and train new/current associates.
  • Follow established safety, environmental and quality policies, procedures and practices to include proper use and care of PPE
  • Maintain work area and shop tools/equipment.
  • Shows commitment to Altec core values.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Skills Required
