Job summary

ITT Enidine Incorporated in Orchard Park, NY, seeks a Machinist III to setup and operate CNC lathes and CNC mills, along with manual machines, under limited supervision. The role requires reading blueprints and applying math to maintain tolerances.

You will participate in safety and continuous improvement efforts, train others as needed, and ensure quality prior to full automated operation. On-site position with physical work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma.
• 5-7 years machining experience.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret corporate work standards, technical procedures, or government regulations.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic math, algebra, and geometry.
• Advanced knowledge of CNC lathes, tool grinders, grinding wheels, manual lathes and CNC mills.
• Knowledge of measuring equipment, wrenches, general complement of tools and their use.
• Knowledge of machinability of various materials.
• Ability to lift 25lbs frequently and up to 50lbs occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to understand dimensions and tolerances, sequence of operations, and set-up requirements.
• Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, grinders, and other manual machines.
• Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls as required.
• Operates machines on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed data.
• Participates in safety and continuous improvement programs to ensure production is maintained.
• May conduct operator/machining training to new or existing machinists.
• Verifies performance of machine tool and component manufacturing prior to implementing full automatic operation with some direction from supervision.

Overview

Sets up and operates CNC lathes and CNC mills as well as manual equipment with limited guidance.

Responsibilities

• Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to understand dimensions
  and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and set-up requirements, may need
  assistance.
