Carpenter Technology Corporation in Reading, PA, seeks a Machinist II to machine test specimens and parts in the Met Lab and production areas. You will operate manual and CNC tools, perform setups, maintain equipment, and ensure quality and safety standards while supporting continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of machining experience, strong blueprint reading and mathematical skills, and the ability to work well in a team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 2 years of machining experience in a manufacturing, machine shop, laboratory, or industrial environment.
• Experience operating manual machining equipment such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders.
• Basic experience operating CNC machining equipment.
• Working knowledge of machine shop practices, machining techniques, blueprint interpretation, and shop mathematics.
• Knowledge of machinability of metals and layout techniques.
• Ability to safely operate machining equipment and follow all safety procedures.
• Ability to inspect work and identify quality concerns.
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot routine machining issues.
• Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment while following established procedures and direction.
• Basic computer skills and proficiency using standard software applications.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsabilités

• Operate manual and CNC machine tools to produce test specimens and parts according to specifications and work instructions.
• Perform routine machine setups, machining operations, basic CNC functions, and daily maintenance activities.
• Inspect work for quality, identify and elevate safety or quality concerns, and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Support laboratory and production operations by prioritizing assigned work, following established procedures, maintaining material traceability.
• Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet departmental objectives.
• The role may also provide support outside of the machinist area as business needs require.
