Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan in Claypool, AZ invites an experienced Machinist II to join our Miami smelter and rod plant maintenance team. You will perform and lead routine maintenance and machining projects while upholding safety standards in a 24/7 operation.

The role requires at least six years of machining experience, proficiency with lathes, milling machines, and welding, and the ability to read blueprints. High school diploma or GED preferred.

Qualifications

• Six (6) years of experience in Machinist, Line Boring, Welding, or Boiler Maker crafts.
• Completion of required academic and practical competencies.
• Ability to pass a written assessment on skills, safety, and knowledge.
• Proficiency in welding/cutting and operating lathes, milling machines, saws, and drill presses.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
• Experience with Komatsu Electric Shovels and Epiroc Diesel Drills preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform and lead routine maintenance and machining projects.
• Provide leadership in safety, environmental compliance, and MSHA regulations.
• Complete work orders, order parts, and maintain accurate documentation.
• Develop solutions for mechanical issues and maintenance challenges.
• Participate in audits, JSAs, and SOP development.
• Read blueprints and procure appropriate materials and resources.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
