Description

General Summary

The CNC Machinist is responsible for producing machined parts by setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine, maintaining equipment and supplies, and ensuring quality and safety standards. This position reports to the Shop General Manager and has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to safety standards and practices, and alerting others to potential hazards.
  2. Performs all duties as assigned and adheres to TEAM's Core Values.
  3. Plans machining activities by studying work orders and engineering specifications, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  4. Edits programs at mills and lathes by entering instructions, setting tool registers, offsets, and other parameters.
  5. Formulates machining requirements using math, geometry, and trigonometry.
  6. Sets up mills and lathes with appropriate tools and work-holding devices.
  7. Maintains machining specifications by observing, measuring, and troubleshooting.
  8. Adjusts surface feet per minute (SFM) and feed rates to optimize tool life and quality, replacing worn tools as needed.

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree or relevant technical training preferred.
  • 2-3 years of industry experience preferred.
  • Travel requirements: 0%-25%

Work Conditions

  • Based out of a branch or site location.
  • Indoor and outdoor work in a plant environment.
  • Interaction with employees, supervisors, and clients.
  • Work around production machinery with high noise levels.
  • Must wear safety equipment as required.
  • May work at multiple sites and tolerate climate changes.
  • Periodic out-of-town travel may be required.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Walk, climb, and communicate effectively.
  • Observe, perform routine duties, and travel as needed.
  • Navigate within plant environments, including ladders and elevated platforms.
  • Maintain focus, multitask, and communicate well.
