Job summary

Pursuit Aerospace in Newburyport, MA is seeking a Machinist for 2nd shift to join our on-site manufacturing team. You will set up and operate CNC lathes and milling machines, collaborating with engineers and programmers to perfect parts per work orders and blueprints.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, 3+ years in a machine shop, and the ability to work without sponsorship. ITAR/EAR compliance and strong troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills are highly

• 3+ years of experience working with machinery in a machine shop.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without sponsorship.
• Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.

Responsibilities

• Set Up and operate CNC lathes and/or Milling machines and related equipment where programs, fixtures, and methods have been developed.
• Work with Engineers and Programmers to make edits and adjustments to produce parts per work orders/blueprints.
• Operate more than one machine in a cellular environment.
• Demonstrate knowledge of feeds and speeds and cutting tools and their application.
• Inspect work for dimensional features as required.
• Produce quality and quantity of work per Company requirements.
• Complete paperwork related to counts, scrap, time, etc. per policy.

About the Opportunity:

We’re looking for an experienced Machinist for 2 nd Shift. You will have the opportunity to work with an inspiring team of experienced Machinists and Engineers.

Location: Newburyport, MA, 100% Onsite

Responsibilities:

• Set Up and operate CNC lathes and/or Milling machines and related equipment where programs, fixtures, and methods have been developed.
• Work with our Engineers and Programmers to make all edits and adjustments as required to produce parts to work orders/blueprint specifications/sketches.
• The ability to operate more than one machine in a cellular environment is required.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of feeds and speeds and a working knowledge of cutting tools and their application.
• Inspect work for all dimensional features as required.
• Produce quality and quantity of work in accordance with Company requirements.
• Responsible for accurately completing paperwork relating to counts, scrap, time, etc. According to Company policy.
• Perform duties always exercising good machining practices.
• Maintain area, equipment and tooling in a neat, safe, orderly condition including operator maintenance sheets.
• Maintain coolant tanks and fills as necessary.
• Train, guide and assist other employees as required.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 3+ years of experience working with machinery in a machine shop,
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.
• Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Understanding of G and M Codes.
• Demonstrated mechanical ability is strongly preferred.
• Troubleshooting Skills.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Working Conditions:

• Requires mobility in a manufacturing plant environment while using Personal Protective Requires mobility in a manufacturing plant environment while using Personal Protective Equipment.
• Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
• Must be able to have prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
