Job summary

Collins Aerospace in San Marcos, Texas, seeks a skilled machinist/assembler to assemble, repair, and fabricate metal parts into sub-units using mechanical equipment. You will interpret blueprints and GD&T, take measurements, and perform inspections to ensure quality. Training on the 1st shift is provided for up to 180 days.

Requires HS diploma or GED and 1 year of relevant experience; experience with hand/tools and metal work is preferred. This is an onsite role with standard benefits.

Qualifications

• HS diploma (or GED) or vocational/technical education with min 1 year relevant experience.
• Experience interpreting blueprints, work orders, engineering plans, specifications, reference planes, designs sketches and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Assembles, repairs, and fabricates metal parts into sub-units or complete units using operating mechanical equipment.
• Takes measurements of material and selects appropriate machines for the process.
• Performs machining setups and adjusts as required.
• Conducts inspections of work produced.
• Checks SPC charts for frequency of checks, gauging, and measurements.
• Keeps records and maintains quality/safety standards.
• Performs other duties as required.
• 2nd Shift: Monday-Friday 3pm – 11:30PM; will train on 1st Shift for up to 180 days.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D in the US) or vocational/ technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
• Experience in Interpreting blueprints, work orders, engineering plans, specifications, reference planes, designs sketches and geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T) for operation, material, and dimensional requirements.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Previous manufacturing assembly experience.
• Experience with using hand and/or power tools
• Experience working with various metals
• 2-3 years of relevant experience working in machining parts
