General Description
Produce parts using standard machining processes.
DUTIES
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances with knowledge of mathematics and precision measurement instruments. Fabricate assemblies or subassemblies using machine tools such as saws, lathes, milling machines, shapers, and grinders.
- Make setup decisions based on the part, product, and material being used.
- Measure and examine completed products to ensure they meet drawing and customer requirements.
- Make minor adjustments and setup changes on basic machine tools and equipment.
- Align and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials onto machines.
- Monitor machine feed and speed during machining and adjust as necessary.
- Evaluate the machining process for hazards and ensure safety protocols are followed.
- Ensure all PPE is in place before starting machining operations.
- Train and assist Machinist I.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent; trade school diploma in Machining/Machining Science.
- 4 to 7 years of experience in a machining environment.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
- Control over equipment and systems used in machining.
- Monitoring gauges, dials, and indicators for proper operation.
- Use advanced mathematics and machining experience to solve problems.
- Select the appropriate tools for tasks.
- Basic knowledge of CNC programming with ability to make minor edits.
- Produce products from engineering drawings.
- Experience with precision measurement instruments.
- Knowledge of raw materials used in machining.
- Ability to train others.
- Inspect work area for safety hazards prior to operations.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk, stand, sit, climb stairs, lift up to 50 pounds, and use finger dexterity.
- Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
