Description

Ascentec Engineering is hiring a weekend Machinist II to work on a 5-axis CNC machine. Qualified candidates must possess the necessary skills to successfully function in a quick-turn, high-speed machine shop. This position presents a great opportunity for someone with strong mechanical aptitude/skills and an attention to detail with many avenues for career growth. Set up and operate a variety of CNC machine tools and controls to produce precision parts.

Schedule: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Requirements

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Included, but not limited to:

  1. Load and unload parts for machining up to 40 pounds.
  2. Read and interpret manufacturing prints.
  3. Possess efficient math skills and basic understanding of geometric tolerance.
  4. Check parts using basic measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, pins, indicators, and bore gauges.
  5. CNC setup and operation; tech tools, load programs and set/adjust work/tool offsets accordingly. Haas, Fanuc, Siemens, and Okuma controls.
  6. Inspect machined parts following 1st Part and in-process inspection protocol.
  7. Must have CNC 3 & 4 axis machining experience. 5 axis is a plus.
  8. Able to change fixtures, replace tool changes and manage tool libraries.
  9. Machining and holding tolerances of +/- .0005".
  10. 5s, keeping area clean and organized.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE AND TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  1. Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively.
  4. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  5. Able to multitask and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  6. Experienced minimum in the set-up and run of 3-axis vertical CNC mills, 4 & 5 axis is a plus.
  7. Experienced with multiple metrology tools for measuring and recording part dimensions.

COMPENSATION / BENEFITS:

  1. $24 to $32 per hour
