The Grind Machine Setup/Operator is responsible for the safe setup and operation of automatic grinding machines to grind springs to specification. This is a second shift position: 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM.

Reporting To

Manufacturing Manager

Essential Job Functions

1. Receive and interpret work orders, samples, prints, and instructions.
2. Set up grinder, install tubes, blocks, and plates, changing or dressing grinding wheels.
3. Grind springs to proper length, squareness, and load specification.
4. Periodically check spring dimensions with calipers, load testers, and fixtures to ensure parts meet specifications.
5. Complete and maintain all quality records.
6. Adhere to all shop safety requirements and procedures.
7. Maintain a clean and orderly work area.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to read and interpret part specifications or blueprints.
• Detail-oriented.
• Good verbal and communication skills.

Education and Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience in grinding and/or machine operation and setup in a manufacturing setting preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel; pull and push with hands and arms; talk or hear.
• Occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Occasionally walk, bend, stoop, climb, or balance.
• Frequently sit and stand for up to 4 hours at a time.
• Exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, etc.
