Job summary

Astroseal Products, a manufacturer of non-woven metallic mesh for aerospace applications, seeks a Machinist/Facilities Support Technician. You will manufacture, modify, and repair precision parts, tooling, fixtures, and machine components; maintain production equipment; and provide practical facilities support to keep the shop and building safe and ready for production.

Essential duties include setting up lathes and mills, inspecting with micrometers and calipers, diagnosing mechanical failures,

Qualifications

• Experience setting up and operating manual lathes and mills.
• Ability to inspect parts using precision instruments.
• Diagnose mechanical failures and perform repairs.
• Build and repair fixtures, guards, and jigs.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on machine tools.
• Provide facilities support for basic building needs and safety.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual lathes, milling machines, surface and pedestal grinders, drill presses, saws, and related shop equipment to produce parts.
• Plan machining sequences; select materials, cutters, and speeds; perform turning, drilling, milling, grinding, and finishing operations.
• Inspect incoming materials and completed work using precision instruments; verify tolerances and alignment.
• Diagnose mechanical failures and repair or replace components; fabricate replacement parts when needed.
• Build, modify, and repair jigs, fixtures, guards, and other shop aids for safer operations.
• Perform preventive maintenance on machine tools and related equipment.
• Provide hands-on facilities support and coordinate basic building repairs.
• Respond to breakdowns and coordinate external machining when required.
