Job summary

Astroseal Products Mfg. in Chester, CT, seeks a Machinist/Facilities Support Technician to manufacture, modify, and repair precision parts while maintaining production equipment and shop safety.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and 3+ years of manual machining experience with strong inspection skills. CNC experience is a plus; dedication to maintenance and safe work practices is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Machinist apprenticeship/trade-school or equivalent preferred.
• Three+ years of manual machining experience in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, grinders, drill presses, and related shop equipment to produce parts from drawings or measurements.
• Plan machining sequences, select materials, tooling, speeds, and feeds; perform turning, milling, drilling, and finishing operations.
• Inspect parts with micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gauges to verify tolerances and fit before use.
• Diagnose mechanical failures and repair or fabricate replacement parts as needed.
• Provide hands-on facilities support for routine mechanical and building needs; refer complex work to qualified contractors.
• Maintain and organize machine-shop tools, inspection equipment, and supplies; assist with equipment installation and relocation.
