Position: Level Two Machinist

Level two machinists operate 3-5 axis CNC machines and conventional mills and lathes to produce complex aerospace parts. These individuals demonstrate advanced cross-training flexibility, including first part run and full machine recovery. They are capable of running multiple machines and completing complex setups on 3-5 axis machines. They also apply advanced blueprint and GD&T reading skills to complex production inspection processes. Responsibilities include editing programs and writing simple programs to make tooling, as well as troubleshooting issues that arise with complex parts. This position typically requires 4-6 years of machinist experience.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

1. Operate multiple machine platforms, including CNC and conventional Mills and Lathes.
2. Perform complex setups independently on various machine platforms, including 3 and 5 axis machines.
3. Conduct complex inspection tasks to ensure dimensional requirements using advanced GD&T and print reading skills.
4. Validate programs and first part runs on new products.
5. Assist in accurate and safe full machine recovery.

Required Skills

• Advanced skills in machine platform operation, including operating conventional machines at a basic level.
• Proficiency in job setup and verification.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and inspection processes.
• Machining troubleshooting skills for first part runs and machine recovery.
• Intermediate CNC programming, editing, and tooling creation skills.
• Basic exposure to CAD/CAM.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.

Required Experience

• Proven success in level two machining duties for at least one year prior to promotion or hire.
• 4-6 years of machining experience.

Level of Education

• GED or High School diploma preferred, but not required.
