Sets up, operates, and verifies the quality of work on a wide variety of CNC Lathe machines. Collaborates with department team and programming engineers for new processes and challenging setups. Actively participates in continuous improvement activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

• Performs complex set-ups, with minimal supervision, on a wide variety of CNC machines to ensure accurate and precise compliance with design and quality standards.
• Monitors variations in sequence (e.g., positioning, cycle time) and makes necessary corrections.
• Works from drawings and specifications with minimal direction from the Team Leader.
• Troubleshoots complex machining problems independently.
• Runs production and deburrs parts as required.
• Edits programs for CNC machines and writes basic programs for quick turnaround projects and work holding.
• Selects and aligns tooling, fixtures, and attachments for machining.
• Adjusts machines to produce conforming products.
• Performs in-process inspection of own work while running machines.
• Completes required paperwork and organizes materials and documentation.
• Collaborates with and supports other employees in the department.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area, works safely, and complies with all safety rules and work practices.
• Informs the Team Leader of job, machine, and equipment issues, as well as other work-related information.
• Maintains and cares for all shop tools, machines, and equipment.
• Conforms to the company's quality system as documented.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High school diploma or equivalent, plus at least 2 years of Vo-Tech training in machine tool technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Ability to read blueprints and use measuring instruments.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 5+ years of machine setup and operation experience in a job shop environment.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Ability to lift up to 25-30 pounds.

LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to understand and follow instructions in English.
