Job summary

Traka Group's Salem, VA facility is seeking a Machinist to operate CNC and manual machines, including lathes and mill-turns, on the 2nd shift (3:30pm–12:00am, Monday–Friday). Precision, CAD/CAM programming, and blueprints are required.

You will set up, change over, inspect parts, and lead safety and kaizen initiatives while supporting production and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred in machining.
  • Extensive experience with CNC and manual machining techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong metallurgy knowledge and precision measurement skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork; able to work overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC and manual machining equipment to spec.
  • Program CNC and interpret CAD/CAM outputs.
  • Perform changeovers and maintain production flow.
  • Inspect finished parts for tolerances and quality.
  • Lead troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
  • Promote safety, 5S, and kaizen improvements.
  • Respond to outages to keep equipment online.
