Job summary

TE Connectivity in the United States is seeking an experienced moldmaker to support mold design, maintenance, and production tooling. You will read blueprints, assemble and repair molds, and ensure tooling meets specifications.

Strong apprenticeship background and 4+ years moldmaking or mold maintenance experience are required. The role demands precision, tool knowledge, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of four years’ experience in moldmaking or mold maintenance preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to operate milling machines, surface grinders, and related shop equipment.
  • Knowledge of tool design and understanding of fit and function of mold components.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare molds for production and perform mold maintenance.
  • Perform part number change-overs from assembly drawings, cleaning, assembly, repair, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform visual inspection on molded product to assure good mold maintenance.
  • Disassemble mold tooling for cleaning and repair; inspect for wear and damage and rework as needed.
  • Change over molds, including changing out details to change product part configuration.
  • Fit and assemble component parts into mold cavities and verify dimensions, alignment, and clearance.
  • Analyze and correct complex mold malfunctions to assure mold will produce acceptable parts.
  • Perform welding to repair mold tooling, mold frames, and other mold parts.

Job Requirements
  • Rotating 1st shift
  • Prepare molds for production
  • Perform part number change‑overs from assembly drawings, cleaning, assembly, repair, and troubleshooting and perform visual inspection on molded product to assure good mold maintenance.
  • Inspect and prepare tooling to be installed into mold, meaning proficiency in all shop equipment (excluding wire EDM) and heat‑treating techniques.
  • Disassemble mold tooling for cleaning and repair. Clean each piece of tooling, inspect for wear and damage, and rework or replace details as needed.
  • Change over molds, including changing out details to change product part configuration.
  • Fit and assemble component parts into mold cavities and verify dimensions, alignment, and clearance.
  • Analyze and correct complex mold malfunctions to assure mold will produce acceptable parts.
  • Perform welding to repair mold tooling, mold frames, and other mold parts requiring a fine blend of surface metal that would not distort the finished product.
  • Hand‑fit mold tooling.
  • Shared responsibility for tooling inventory.
  • Responsible for daily cleaning of mold and maintaining tooling.
What Your Background Should Look Like
  • Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of four years’ experience in moldmaking or mold maintenance preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to operate milling machines, surface grinders, and related shop equipment.
  • Ability to operate precision measurement devices.
  • Knowledge of tool design and understanding of fit and function of mold components.
  • Understanding of plastics and mold tooling.
  • Good communication and ability to multi‑task and prioritize work to successfully accomplish job duties is strongly needed.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Compensation
  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $56,000 – $85,000 (subject to change dependent on physical location).
  • Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
  • Total compensation = Base Salary + Incentives + Benefits.
