JOB SUMMARY

Operates assigned machines and equipment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Reads work orders, blueprints and other work instructions to determine machining to be done, dimensional specifications, set-up, material and operating requirements.
  • Operates assigned machines and equipment that have been set-up under close supervision. Performs highly routine or repetitive work on smaller or less complex standardized parts or products.
  • May calibrate and use measuring devices to check dimensions to verify that manufacturing tolerances and quality standards are met. Reports dimensions that are out of tolerance and adjust machine or re-work if possible.
  • Perform additional operations on products such as cleaning, deburring, sanding, polishing, drying, heating, etc. as required.
  • Places product in appropriate container and moves to next work or inventory area.
  • Cleans equipment and tooling. Learn to maintain and sharpen tooling if required. Performs preventative maintenance on equipment, reports any operational problems with machines or tooling to manager.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in work area during and at end of shift.
SUPERVISION

Works under close supervision of Production Manager and Shift Leads to follow detailed written and/or verbal instructions.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must have clear understanding of basic math and can read, write and comprehend English (work orders, safety and operations instructions)
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND DEMANDS
  • Exposure to manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Spends 100% of time in the shop. Standing 90% of time.
  • May be exposed to possible shop hazards including heaving machinery, fumes, dust, heat and high pressure and temperatures.
