Job summary

BD is seeking a Machinist to operate CNC mills and lathes in our Durham, NC facility. You will handle tooling, fixturing, offsets, and assist with basic machine setups while ensuring parts meet specifications.

This role requires reading engineering drawings, performing routine maintenance, deburring, and collaborating with Engineering and Quality. A high school diploma or GED is required; 4 days in-office per week is common for BD roles with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience operating CNC mills or lathes.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Willingness to work on-site at the Durham, NC facility.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC mills and/or lathes, including tooling, fixturing, and offsets.
  • Rework parts for manufacturing such as drilling holes and removing hardware.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Assist with basic machine setups and tool changes.
  • Perform routine daily maintenance and cleaning of machines.
  • Cut raw materials to size and deburr edges.
  • Document machining data and collaborate with Engineering and Quality.
  • Perform other general activities in the machine shop.
  • 3D Printing experience is a plus.

Responsibilities
  • Operate CNC mills and/or lathes, including tooling, fixturing, and offsets.
  • Rework parts for manufacturing such as drilling holes, tapping holes, and removing broken
  • hardware.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Assist with basic machine setups and tool changes.
  • Preform routine daily maintenance and cleaning of machines.
  • Cut raw materials to size using saws and deburr finished parts to ensure smooth edges.
  • Document machining data and collaboration with Engineering and Quality.
  • Perform other general activities in the machine shop.
  • 3D Printing experience, a plus.
Minimum Requirement
  • High School Diploma or GED
