Position: Machinist

This position is part of the Agency Support Operations at the Government Publishing Office in Washington, District of Columbia.

Qualifications:

To qualify for the Machinist position, you must meet the following requirement:

Screen-out Element #1: Ability to do the work of a Machinist without more than normal supervision. Applicants must have experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to perform duties independently. Examples include:

  1. Analyzing complex configuration problems to determine effective solutions;
  2. Troubleshooting a wide range of machines and determining repair processes in conjunction with engineering and technical authorities;
  3. Maintaining and repairing various printing, binding, and related machinery and equipment (e.g., printing and bindery, industrial trucks, power plant, and air conditioning machinery);
  4. Making independent interpretations of drawings and specifications lacking in dimensions, tolerances, and fit types, and making repairs.
Experience:

Experience includes paid and unpaid work, volunteer work through programs like Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, and other organizations. Volunteer work helps build skills and provides valuable training and experience that can translate to paid employment. Credit is given for all qualifying experience, including volunteer work.
