Job summary

Grand Valley Manufacturing Co. is seeking a skilled CNC Mill-Turn Operator to set up, operate, and troubleshoot large mill-turn machines, manufacturing components up to 24” diameter and 10’ long.

The role requires reading engineering drawings, performing precise setups, and coordinating with engineers and quality personnel to ensure high-quality parts. Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of CNC experience, familiarity with multi-axis machines, and the ability to work safely in a manufacturing

Qualifications

  • Requires a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • Technical degree in Machining preferred.
  • 3–5 years CNC machining experience preferred.
  • Experience operating multi-axis machines (4-axis, 5-axis, or mill-turn centers) ideal.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and routing instructions to determine dimensions and tolerances.
  • Load and secure raw materials and ensure proper alignment.
  • Perform complex setups of large workpieces and select tools, fixtures, and workholding.
  • Load programs and tools, verify programs, and adjust cutting speeds and feeds.
  • Monitor machine performance and adjust for wear, defects, or out-of-tolerance conditions.
  • Verify machined details meet router specifications.
  • Use micrometers and calipers to read measurements.
  • Collaborate with programmers, engineers, and quality personnel.
  • Train and mentor other operators when needed.

Machinist

Full Time Titusville, PA, US

Grand Valley Manufacturing is seeking a skilled and experienced CNC Mill-Turn Operator to set-up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC mill-turn machines to manufacture components that are 12-24” in diameter, up to 10’ long, and weigh up to 6 tons. The ideal candidate has strong machining knowledge, can interpret engineering drawings, and is committed to producing high quality parts in a safe and efficient manner.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and routing instructions to determine dimensions and tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Load and secure raw materials and ensure proper alignment.
  • Perform complex setups of large workpieces, selecting, installing, and adjusting the correct cutting tools, fixtures, and workholding as required.
  • Able to load programs and tools into machines, verify programs before production runs, and make minor changes to optimize cutting speeds, feed rates, and tool paths.
  • Monitor machine performance, sound, and efficiency to detect tool wear, vibration, defects, or out-of-tolerance machining conditions and adjust as required.
  • Verify that all machined details are produced in a manner that meets router specifications.
  • Correctly use micrometers and calipers to read measurements.
  • Collaborate with programmers, engineers, and quality personnel to improve manufacturing processes.
  • Perform safe lifting and maneuvering of parts (up to 6 tons) utilizing overhead cranes.
  • Maintain accurate job logs, routers, inspection, and other related documentation.
  • Monitor and maintain proper cleanliness of machine and work area, performing and documenting routine machine maintenance.
  • Train and mentor other machine operators when needed.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Requires a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent, Technical degree in Machining preferred. Minimum of 3-5 Years of CNC Machining Experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience operating multi-axis machines (4-axis, 5-axis, or mill-turn centers) is ideal.

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of CNC Machine operations and machine set-up.
  • Able to read and understand G-Code programming.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Experience using common inspection tools (calipers, tape measure, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, indicators).
  • Experience making tool offsets and minor program edits at the machine.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and math skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Fanuc, Mazak, Siemens, Okuma, Haas, or Mitsubishi CNC Controls.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills.

Additional Notes

Must be able to work a flexible schedule. Full-time work week is 40-55 hours, Monday – Friday, 10-hour days Monday – Thursday. 12-hour shifts are sometimes required to meet delivery schedules. Saturdays (1/2 days) as needed.
