Job summary

Grand Valley Manufacturing Co. in Warren, PA, is seeking a 2nd Shift CNC Large Mill Operator to set up and run Large CNC or Manual Mills, producing parts efficiently per specifications. You will read blueprints, select tooling, and manage feeds and speeds to maintain quality.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, with preferred technical machining training. A flexible schedule with 40–55 hours per week is expected, including 10-hour shifts and some 12-hour days.

2nd Shift CNC Large Mill Operator

The 2nd Shift Machine Operator will be responsible for the correct set-up and operation of Large CNC or Manual Mills to produce parts efficiently and effectively.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Able to follow standardized work and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Load and unload heavy raw materials and finished parts, utilizing overhead cranes.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and work instructions to set‑up machine according to specifications and operate successfully, selecting appropriate tooling, feeds, and speeds.
  • Perform setups of large workpieces, choosing the correcting cutting tools, feeds, and speeds.
  • Correctly use micrometers and calipers to read measurements and verify that all machined details are produced in a manner that meets router specifications.
  • Maintain accurate job logs, routers, and related documentation.
  • Monitor and maintain proper cleanliness of machine and work areas.
  • Possess a keen attention to detail, able to identify and resolve maintenance, product, or operations issues.

The employee will be required to wear eye, foot, and/or other personal protective equipment while performing duties. May on a frequent basis squat, climb, push/pull objects, lift up to 25 lbs., and use hands/fingers for grasping and reaching. May on an occasional basis bend at the waist; reach above the shoulder; turn or twist body; lift up to 50 lbs.; carry up to 35 lbs.; and use hands/fingers for fine manipulation. The noise level in the work environment is usually medium to loud.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule. Full-time work week is 40-55 hours, Monday – Friday, 10-hour days Monday – Thursday. 12-hour shifts are sometimes required to meet delivery schedules. Saturdays (1/2 days) as needed.
