Top Echelon LLC in Salisbury, NC is seeking a skilled Machinist to set up and operate CNC and manual mills and lathes, producing precision parts for our equipment manufacturing team.

You will read blueprints and drawings, select tooling and parameters, edit CNC programs, and inspect parts with calipers and micrometers to ensure quality. A high school diploma and 3–5 years of hands-on experience are required.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience operating CNC and manual machines.
  • Experience setting up and running lathes and mills for low-volume work.
  • Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings, including GD&T basics.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and quality inspection methods.
  • Knowledge of CNC setup and program editing (Fanuc or similar controls).
  • Understanding speeds, feeds, tooling selection, and materials (steel, aluminum).
  • Strong math, attention to detail, and teamwork in a fast-paced shop.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; machining certification or technical training a plus.
  • Hands-on experience setting up CNC and manual machines in a job shop environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC and manual mills, lathes, and related machine tools to produce parts to print specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machining sequence.
  • Select appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds, and work-holding methods for each job.
  • Write, change, and prove out all CNC programs; troubleshoot and adjust programs to correct issues during production runs.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Report equipment issues promptly.
  • Coordinate with fabrication, weld, and assembly supervisors to keep parts flowing on schedule.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with shop safety standards.
  • Accurately document completed work, scrap, and downtime as required.

Job Title: Machinist
Location: Salisbury, North Carolina
Salary: $25-32/hour

The Machinist will set up and operate both CNC and manual machine tools, lathes and mills to produce precision parts used in the manufacture of large pieces of equipment in low volume work environment. This role works closely with our fabrication, welding, and assembly teams, as well as manufacturing and production scheduling, to keep jobs on track and meet quality standards.

Job Duties & Responsibilities of the Machinist:
