Job summary

Htprof Machinist role is to set up and operate CNC and manual mills and lathes to produce precision parts for low-volume production in our shop. You will read blueprints, determine dimensions and tolerances, select tooling, write and prove CNC programs (Fanuc or similar), and inspect parts with calipers, micrometers, and height gauges while coordinating with fabrication, welding, and assembly teams.

• 3-5 years of hands-on experience operating CNC and manual machine tools in manufacturing or job shop environments.
• Experience setting up and running lathes and mills in low-volume work.
• Strong ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings, including GD&T basics.
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and quality inspection methods.
• Working knowledge of CNC setup and program editing (Fanuc or similar controls preferred).
• Solid understanding of speeds, feeds, tooling selection, and materials (steel, aluminum).
• Strong math and problem-solving skills; attention to detail and quality.
• Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced production setting.
• High school diploma or equivalent; machining certification or technical training a plus.
• Hands-on experience setting up CNC and manual machines in a job shop environment

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC and manual mills, lathes, and related machine tools to produce parts to print specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machining sequence.
• Select appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds, and work-holding methods for each job.
• Write, change, and prove out CNC programs; troubleshoot and adjust programs during production runs.
• Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc., to verify conformance to specifications.
• Report equipment issues promptly.
• Coordinate with fabrication, weld, and assembly supervisors to keep parts flowing on schedule.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area per shop standards.
• Accurately document completed work, scrap, and downtime as required.

Job Summary of the Machinist:

This role works closely with our fabrication, welding, and assembly teams, as well as manufacturing and production scheduling, to keep jobs on track and meet quality standards.
