Job summary

Ethos is seeking a Machinist for 1st shift to set up and operate CNC and manual lathes and mills, producing precision components for large equipment in a low-volume environment.

You will read blueprints, select tooling and parameters, write CNC programs, and inspect parts with precision instruments to ensure conformance to spec. Collaboration with fabrication and assembly teams is essential for on-time flow.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience operating CNC and manual machine tools in a manufacturing or job shop environment.
  • Experience setting up and running lathes and mills in a low-volume production setting.
  • Strong ability to read blueprints and GD&T basics.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and quality inspection methods.
  • Working knowledge of CNC setup and program editing (Fanuc or similar controls).

Responsibilities

Machinist-(Full-Time 1st Shift Position)

The Machinist will set up and operate both CNC and manual machine tools, lathes and mills to produce precision parts used in the manufacture of large pieces of equipment in low volume work environment.

This role works closely with our fabrication, welding, and assembly teams, as well as manufacturing and production scheduling, to keep jobs on track and keep quality standards.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate CNC and manual mills, lathes, and related machine tools to produce parts to print specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machining sequence.
  • Select appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds, and work-holding methods for each job.
  • Write, change, and prove out all CNC programs; troubleshoot and adjust programs to correct issues during production runs.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.) to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Report equipment issues promptly.
  • Coordinate with fabrication, weld, and assembly supervisors to keep parts flowing on schedule.
