Job summary

Springfield Tool & Die is seeking an experienced machinist to set up and operate manual and CNC machines, reading blueprints and ensuring quality across produced parts. You will measure, inspect, and troubleshoot while aiding process improvements on the shop floor.

The ideal candidate has strong problem-solving skills, experience with CNC programming, and the ability to work independently or in a team. forklift certification is preferred and a solid foundation in tool properties and machining

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; Associates degree in a field related to machine tool technologies preferred
  • 5+ years' experience as a machinist, or 2+ years’ experience as a machinist and a current certification in machining technologies
  • Proficiency in reading technical drawings and using precision measuring tools
  • Knowledge of machining processes, metal properties, and cutting tools
  • Experience with CNC programming and operation
  • Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Sets-up and operates machine tools such as lathes, drill presses, milling machines, grinders, and lapping and polishing machines, to machine parts to specifications. Builds parts from blueprints supplied by others. Develops specifications from general descriptions and draws sketches of parts to be fabricated.
