Position Summary: The Machinist provides technical support for engineering laboratory equipment, assists with research projects, and prepares laboratories. Responsibilities include equipment installation, maintenance, repair, modification, and fabrication. The role involves developing equipment designs, repairing complex machinery, and supporting student and faculty research within the College of Engineering and Computer Science.
Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in construction, installation, maintenance, and repair; ability to troubleshoot and repair technical equipment; experience with design, fabrication, and modification of equipment; ability to analyze problems and develop solutions.
Required Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Ability to operate and troubleshoot engineering lab equipment, maintain safety standards, communicate effectively, organize and prioritize tasks, and provide excellent customer service. Valid driver’s license required.
Conditions of Employment: Ability to pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; prior experience in an engineering lab; knowledge of safety protocols with hazardous materials.
