Job summary

RENK America is seeking entry level through skilled CNC Machinists (Mill or Lathe) to join our Michigan team. This role sets up and operates CNC machinery and inspects precision components on vertical and horizontal machines.

You may enter at any of the three skill tiers, with clear pathways to advancement based on performance, skill development, and experience. Training is provided for entry-level roles with growth opportunities across levels.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; basic math and measurement skills.
  • Willingness to learn setup, programming and inspection techniques with training.
  • Familiarity with blueprints, GD&T and quality inspection standards is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC milling and turning machines to produce precision components.
  • Load and unload parts, set fixtures, and verify part alignment.
  • Follow setup sheets and operation instructions for production runs.
  • Use precision measuring tools to inspect parts (calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges).
  • Perform setups, establish work and tool offsets, and adjust speeds and feeds.
  • Edit or create G-code programs for process optimization.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, including GD&T symbols and 3D features.
  • Troubleshoot surface finish, tool wear, or dimensional issues.
  • Maintain machine cleanliness and perform minor maintenance; ensure safe operation.
  • Collaborate with lead machinists, engineers, and quality inspectors to ensure part accuracy.

Description

We are seeking entry level throughskilled and dedicated CNC Machinists (Mill or Lathe) to join our team. This role is responsible for setting up and operating CNC machinery and well as inspecting precision components on vertical and/or horizontal CNC machines.

This is a trainable, tiered positionwith growth opportunities across three levels — from entry-level operators to experienced precision grinders.

Depending on your background, you may enter at any of the three skill tiers, with clear pathways for advancement based on performance, skill development, and experience.

Position Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic understanding of CNC machining processes (training provided for entry-level).
  • Familiarity with measurement tools and shop math.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and follow written instructions.
  • Willingness to learn setup, programming, and inspection techniques.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3–10 years of CNC machining experience (mills and/or lathes).
  • Skilled in full setups, offsets, and tool selection.
  • Experience with G-code edits, live tooling, or multi-axis machining.
  • Knowledge of materials such as aluminum, stainless, and hardened steels.
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading, GD&T, and precision measuring equipment.
  • Familiarity with CAM programming software (Mastercam or similar) a plus.
  • Leadership or training experience welcomed.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
  • Standing for extended periods while operating grinding machines.
  • Frequent lifting (up to 25 lbs.), bending, and handling of precision components.
  • Exposure to coolant, grinding dust, and high-noise environments (PPE provided).
  • Working with high-speed rotating equipment requires focus and adherence to safety protocols.
