Job summary

SMS group is seeking a CNC Machinist to set up and operate lathes and mills within our North American network. You will machine rolls and components, adhering to quality standards and safety protocols while documenting daily activities and SOP travelers.

The ideal candidate reads blueprints, converts metric and standard measurements, and can train colleagues in basic machining techniques. We offer competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret drawings.
• Ability to convert metric and standard measurements.
• Ability to learn and follow critical processes and operations.
• Experience with CNC and manual machinery is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate lathes, mills and accessories.
• Perform operations on rolls and other parts to meet QA requirements.
• Complete SOP travelers and document daily activities.
• Interpret assembly and blueprints drawings.
• Follow proper safety precautions and maintain an organized work area.

Summary

The CNC Machinist will set up and operate lathes, mills and accessories to perform a variety of operations on rolls and other parts to meet quality assurance requirements.

The Right Candidate Will

• Be a safety minded person who enjoys hands on work.
• Ability to set up and operate both CNC and manual machinery for use in metal working applications.
• Complete SOP travelers and document daily activities.
• Interpret assembly and blue prints drawings.
• Follow proper safety precautions.
• Must be courteous and work well with others.
• Ability to properly rig heavy machinery and equipment for use with overhead crane.
• Ability to train new or other employees to perform same job responsibilities
• Maintain an organized and clean work area.
• Drug free, safety minded and maintain an excellent attendance record

What You'll Need

• Basic Trigonometry functions.
