Job summary

Safariland, LLC is seeking a Level 2 CNC machinist in Golden, CO. You will process, program and set up prototype and production parts on 3‑axis CNC machines and related equipment. The role emphasizes accurate setup, tooling selection and adherence to prints.

You'll troubleshoot, inspect orders, and help develop junior machinists, while coordinating with team members to meet customer specifications and timing. This is a hands-on manufacturing role in a dynamic shop.

Qualifications

• Safely operate and set up CNC equipment and related manual equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and prints.
• Understanding of GD&T and basic math for inspection and setup.
• Basic knowledge of Mastercam and NC programming concepts.
• Excellent communication to relay job status and issues to team.

Responsibilities

• Set up, program, and operate 3 axis CNC machines for prototype and production.
• Select and order tooling required for each job.
• Run production and rapid prototype jobs to meet print specs.
• Troubleshoot part manufacturing issues and implement fixes.
• Inspect orders to ensure conformance with customer drawings.
• Assist in developing lower-level machinists and mentor junior staff.
• CNC and manual lathe and mill setup.

Job Description:

Essential Job Functions:

• Set up, program, and operate 3 axis CNC machines. [JR - Set up and operate, limited programming.]
• Select and order the appropriate tooling needed for the job at hand.
• Run production and rapid prototype jobs.
• Trouble shoot problems of parts being manufactured and find solutions to correct the problems.
• Inspect one-off and multiple-piece orders to meet customer print requirements.
• Help develop lower-level machinists as instructed.
• CNC and Manual Lathe and mill setup

Essential Job Requirements:

• Must possess the ability to safely operate, understand and setup many pieces of CNC equipment along with other manual pieces of equipment.
• Be able to read and understand drawings.
• Apply good communication skills to relay to other machinists and managers the status of current jobs, problems, and any other pertinent work information.
• Job hour estimation.
• Fixture creation. [NFT Machine Shop - Not required but preferred.]
• Good problem-solving skills.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• NFT Machine Shop - Basic understanding of G and M codes.
• Level 2 Certification in MasterCam. [NFT Machine Shop - Not required but preferred.]
• Good knowledge of GD&T.
• General math skills. Including basic trigonometry and algebra.
• High school diploma or GED
