Job summary

Simpson Strong-Tie Company Inc. in Fulton, MO is seeking a full-time, non-exempt Die/Tooling Technician to perform cleaning, inspection and changeovers of dies according to the production schedule.

You will feed CNC machines and run conventional mills/lathes, operate auxiliary equipment, and read production drawings to support die changes. Ideal candidates have at least a GED and a technical background with precision equipment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least a 2-year technical degree or 2 years in a technical field operating precision equipment.
• Accountability & Dependability: punctuality and following instructions.
• Attention to Detail: thoroughness and accuracy with limited supervision.
• Mathematical Reasoning: basic math, decimal understanding.
• Reading Comprehension: read and understand production drawings.
• Measurements: read measuring devices to ensure product quality.

Responsibilities

• Feeding CNC machines/running conventional mills/lathes (50%).
• Operating auxiliary equipment (drill press, vertical lathe) (20%).
• Read and understand production drawings and changeovers on dies; learn surface grinding basics and use calipers, dial indicators, micrometers (15%).
• Support the plant with other duties as required by leadership (15%).

YOU

This position is responsible for cleaning, inspection and changeover of dies according to the production schedule.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (% of Time)

• Feeding CNC machines/ running conventional mills/lathes (50%)
• Operating Axillary equipment ex. Drill Press, Vertical Lathe (20%)
• Read and understand production drawings, standard work to aid in changeovers on dies. Learn basic surface grinding skills and proper ways to make shims. Use precision measuring devices (ex. Calipers, dial indicators...etc.) (15%)
• Any other duties required by leadership to support the plant. (15%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
• At least a 2-year technical degree or 2 years in a technical field operating precision equipment.
• Accountability & Dependability: Ability to be at work on time, and follow instructions, policies and procedures.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to achieve thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task with limited supervision.
• Mathematical Reasoning: Basic math skills with an understanding of decimal equivalents.
• Reading Comprehension: Ability to read and understand production drawings.
• Measurements: Ability to operate and read various measuring devices used to ensure quality of products. Able to read a tape measure to 1/32" tolerance, use protractor to measure angles to +/- 1 degree and ability to use and read a micrometer.
• Communication: Able to communicate effectively in a group setting and one on one.

This full-time, non-exempt position is located in Fulton, MO

PAY

$19.62 - $29.42 / hour

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, see, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. This role operates large equipment while standing for approximately 8-12 hours, regularly twisting and bending in a repetitive motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift, carry, push and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The job may risk exposure to heat and/or cold, loud noise levels, vibration, and moving mechanical parts.
