Job summary

100Hires, Inc. seeks a skilled Machinist to operate CNC lathes, mills, and other machinery, ensuring precise tooling and parts. The role covers setup, measurement with micrometers, and adherence to safety guidelines in a busy shop.

Candidates should have at least four years of related experience, a high school diploma or GED, and prefer vocational training. The team works with heavy equipment and strict quality standards, including crane work and PPE.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; vocational training a plus.
  • Four years minimum related experience in machining.
  • Ability to read drawings and work instructions with accuracy.
  • Knowledge of safe machine operation and lockout/tagout practices.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate die room machinery and various tooling.
  • Machine tooling using engine lathes, EDM, drill presses, shapers, mills, CNC machines.
  • Use micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify specifications.
  • Monitor lubrication, coolant levels, and chip containers.
  • Review drawings and instructions to meet output specs.
  • Mark materials for cutting, plan sequence of actions, and ensure quality output.
  • Maintain clean work area and comply with safety rules.
  • Report data and results and perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

**Overview: **A machinist operates computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools, such as lathes and milling machines, to cut and produce precision parts for machines, instruments, and tools. Machinist repair or produce parts using both manual and automated equipment with precise measurements.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Responsible for all aspects of set-up and operation of all die room machineryMust be able to machine quality tooling using Engine lathe(s), EDM, Drill Press(s), Shaper, Mattison grinder, Saw, Manual Bridge Port, Horizontal Mill, CNC Lathes, Mills, 5-Axis, and Boring Mill.Ability to use measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and other gages to ensure conformance to specifications.Monitors machine, tooling and cutting fluid levels.Review samples, drawings, or instructions to understand specifications of output.Take measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping.Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job.Monitor output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects.Ensures that the lubrication / coolant tanks are filled, and chip buckets are emptied as necessary.Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment.Follows all safety and plant rules and regulations.Performs other duties as assigned.Supervisory Responsibilities:This job has no supervisory responsibilities.Education and/or Experience:High school diploma or general education degree (GED).Vocational school or apprenticeship is a plus.Minimum Four years related experience and/or training preferred.**************Key Competencies**Communication Skills:Ability to read and write simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.Ability to effectively report relevant data and job specific information as needed.Mathematical Skills:Ability to perform intermediate to advanced level mathematics.Computer Skills:Ability to navigate basic technology including but not limited to use of digital self-service platforms, time clocks and other systems where applicable.Additional Preferred Skills and Experience:Excellent manual dexterity, accuracy, and attention to detail.Knowledge of metal properties and other material.Familiarity with performing lock out/tag out as an authorized user.Experience operating the overhead crane.Satisfactory completion of Bennett Mechanical Comprehension Test.Physical Demands:Stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, and reach during shifts.Use carts, dollies, cranes and jacks to transport material if needed.Must be able to regularly lift and or move up to 40 lbs.Tolerate potentially extreme temperature fluctuations impacted by weather and machinery.Acclimate to high noise and vibration levels in workspaces.Wear and adhere to all PPE guidelines including hard hats, protective eye wear, ear plugs, and approved footwear with metatarsal and steel toe safeguards.Work Environment:The Machinist interacts with historic machinery throughout the facility which often involves proximity to heat, noise, debris, overhead cranes and other potentially dangerous equipment.
