Job summary

Premier Technology Inc. is seeking a skilled Machinist II to set up and operate CNC mills and lathes, interpreting complex drawings and controlling machining parameters. You will work with Mastercam and G-code, ensuring parts meet exact specifications while maintaining quality standards.

The role requires an associate degree or equivalent and 2–6 years of related experience, with the ability to work on-site and collaborate with engineers and production staff.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school with 2–6 years related experience.
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and program sheets.
• Familiarity with Mastercam, G-code, and CNC controls is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and related machines to fabricate parts.
• Select tools, fixtures, and accessories; adjust speeds, feeds, and depths.
• Verify finished parts comply with drawings and specs.

Job description

Sets up and operates conventional, special purpose, and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools,
• attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills,
• lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
• Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as
• speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters
• commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
• Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or
• out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
• Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
• Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of
• machine settings or programmed control data.
• Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of
• part or product to be fabricated.
• Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others
• to resolve machining or assembly problems.
• Plans and performs a variety of machine operations utilizing
• numerical control machining centers to cut, shape, or form metal
• work pieces to specifications.
• Interprets complicated drawings, program sheets, instructions, and
• process sheets to determine work to be done.
• Performs a variety of milling, drilling, boring, or related
• operations to close and interrelated tolerances.
• Performs a variety of inspection and gauging operations to insure
• maintenance of quality standards and specifications.
• Performs machine maintenance.
• Other duties may be assigned.
• Mastercam experience a plus.
• Ability to program machines at the machine a plus.
• Must understand G -Code.
• Ability to read, interpret and understand Blueprints.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience:

Machinist II:

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and two (2) to six (6) years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional skills:

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a very dynamic environment must have flexibility with an ability to focus.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk, hear, and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and climb or balance. The job may require climbing of ladders and/or stairs. The employee will often lift heavy pieces of metal, work with arms overhead, torso twist, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, often for extended periods; the employee must frequently lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move weight above 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include strong visual acuity (with or without correction), color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Long hours (10 or more) are often scheduled, and job may require overtime and travel.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, loud noises, tripping hazards, exposure to sparks, welding arc, and open flame. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, mild industrial chemicals, inclement weather, risk of electrical shock and vibration. It is essential for employees to maintain awareness of their surroundings and when required, wear the necessary PPE. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
