Job description

We are looking for a Machinist for our Baltimore, Maryland facility.

In your role as a Machinist, you will:

1. Inspect, service, and make necessary repairs to passenger coaches and locomotives within OEM/FRA/DOT and Alstom Standards.
2. Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations, and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA).
3. Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair malfunctions in engines, air brake equipment, running gear, or locomotive components.
4. Perform equipment work order management using asset management database.
5. Operate locomotive, passenger coaches, and prime mover as part of a team to move rail equipment.
6. Perform additional duties as assigned in accordance with union agreement and incidental work rule provisions.

Training will be provided in Baltimore, Maryland upon hire.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED
• 18 years of age or older
• Valid Driver's License
• Heavy mechanical repair experience

Preferred Qualifications

• 4 years of diesel mechanic experience

Physical Requirements

• Heavy work, lifting up to 70 pounds occasionally and up to 100 pounds on a rare basis

• Push/pull/grip/carry regularly
• Walking long distances over uneven terrain
• Auditory and visual acuity
• Exposure to heat from equipment on occasion

• Wear protective equipment such as hard hat, hearing protection, safety-toe boots, and safety glasses
• Work hours may include nonstandard shifts, overtime, and various shifts
• Complete annual training and pass safety rules examination
• Subject to random drug and alcohol testing
• Must pass all assessments and a post-offer medical examination
• Position governed by a collective bargaining agreement, membership required
• Active employees must complete one year in current position before applying for other positions
