Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria, IL is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Technician for the gear manufacturing team. You will support complex equipment, diagnose issues, and help restore production safely and efficiently.

You will train team members, reinforce standards, and enhance the department's technical capability. You will read blueprints, perform quality checks, and collaborate with production, maintenance, engineering, and quality to solve problems and improve processes.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in a gear manufacturing production environment.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment, tooling, and processes.
• Experience with setup, adjustment, calibration, and preventive maintenance.
• Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, schematics and work instructions.
• Knowledge of quality requirements, process controls, and tolerances.
• Ability to perform root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Experience training and mentoring other employees.
• Ability to communicate clearly and adapt training to experience levels.
• Judgment to know when to seek additional support.
• Ability to work across production, maintenance, engineering, and quality.
• Commitment to safety, standardized work, and quality.
• Attention to detail and documentation.
• Maintain composure during production disruptions.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot equipment, tooling, and processes using structured methods.
• Provide hands-on training and guidance on operation and standardized work.
• Support equipment setup, calibration, preventive maintenance, and production support.
• Read blueprints and specs to verify tolerances and quality.
• Collaborate with production, maintenance, engineering, and quality teams.
• Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring issues.
• Identify safety, quality, and efficiency improvements and implement them.
