Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria, IL is seeking entry-level machining trainees for a paid program that provides a unique learning path into a CNC machining career.

Roles are available on 2nd and 3rd shifts after 4–6 weeks of training, with starting pay and shift premiums described below. As a trainee, you will set up and operate CNC machines, read blueprints, verify part conformity with precision tools, and apply math skills to determine correct dimensions.

Qualifications

• Prior troubleshooting and equipment repair experience with agricultural, automotive, industrial, or military equipment.
• Good communication skills and strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
• Ability to work overtime, including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machines to produce high-precision parts.
• Read blueprints and drawings to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Verify part conformity using measurement instruments like micrometers or calipers.
• Apply intermediate math skills (geometry, trig, fractions) to compute targets.
• Determine feed, speeds and select tooling.
