Job description

The Impact You’ll Make

Operate and set up conventional, numerical control (NC), and special‑purpose machines and machining centers to machine metal components. This is a 3rd‑shift position, shift hours 8:00 pm to 6:00 am, Monday through Thursday.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Demonstrate a commitment to maintaining a safe, clean and orderly work area.
  • Follow safety regulations and actively contribute to work safety.
  • Follow all standard work, control plans, processes and quality guidelines.
  • Operate multiple machines and perform all Total Productive Environment (TPE) activities; have experience working with automation (Robotics).
  • Verify that machine is running at proper cycle time.
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines.
  • Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out‑of‑tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
  • Diagnose and rectify normal problems on machines and verify conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
  • Respond with commitment and sensitivity toward satisfying the needs of internal and external customers.
  • Promote quality and continuous improvement philosophy.
  • Evaluate situations objectively and demonstrate the ability to make timely decisions that are intended to have a positive effect on work performance.
  • Organize and prioritize work assignments to complete tasks on time with quality, and anticipate problem areas in advance.
  • Apply creative approaches and ideas to solve problems, maximizing effective use of appropriate resources.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in approach and ideas; respond positively and support changes in procedures, processes, technology, responsibility, and assignments.

  • Possess appropriate personal tools as required.
  • Confere with and instruct other classifications in the care and use of machines, equipment, and techniques required.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma/GED; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply logic and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Physical Requirements
  • Stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, and reach with hands and arms regularly.
  • Talk or hear frequently; sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl occasionally.
  • Regularly lift and move up to ten pounds; frequently lift and move up to thirty pounds; occasionally lift and move up to fifty pounds.
  • Maintain close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
  • Work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, or risk of electrical shock.
  • Noise level is usually loud.
