Job summary

Socket.dev in the United States: Texas location seeks a skilled machinist to operate lathes, milling machines, grinders and related equipment for production support. The candidate will read blueprints, interpret sketches, and measure parts with calipers and micrometers, ensuring quality and safety at all times.

Daily tasks include coordinating with operators and Engineering on tool modifications, maintaining a clean work area, and preparing production reports and timecards.

Responsibilities

• Perform work on machining equipment such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and related equipment to support production.
• Work with operators and Engineering on specific manual modifications to existing tooling
• Will be expected to do quality work and care for equipment.
• Must keep work area clean and orderly.
• Make out production reports, timecards and other reports or forms as required.
• Demonstrates a knowledge of and commitment to learn manufacturing principles and techniques.
• Ensure that all work activities are performed in accordance with established safety and environmental standards.
• Maintains full compliance and conducts all activities in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; relevant experience will be considered in lieu of education
• Minimum of 6 months of experience utilizing machine tools to perform precision metal cutting operations. This may include Technical school education
• Technical school education in machining, preferred
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and sketches.
• Must be able to read gages, micrometers, scales, calipers and related precision measuring equipment.
• Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
• This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
