Job summary

HITACHI ENERGY USA INC is seeking a Machine Shop Team Lead for the 2nd shift in Alamo, Tennessee. You will organize, assign and oversee production, ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality output while driving continuous improvement using lean tools. The role includes coaching, safety governance and reporting on shift performance.

You will lead a multi-skilled team, manage shift staffing per the production plan, and foster standard work and TPS principles to meet schedules and quality targets.

Qualifications

• High school equivalent or higher education required.
• Machining 1 certification required.
• Understanding lean manufacturing, waste elimination, problem-solving & 5S.
• Ability to use MS Word & Excel.
• Read, write and perform basic math (including algebra, fractions, geometry).
• TPM principles would be beneficial.
• Ability to read safety rules, operating instructions and specs.
• Prepare routine reports and correspondence.
• Willing to work day and night shift.

Responsibilities

• Organizes & oversees production on the second shift.
• Allocates and guides team members per production plan.
• Leads continuous improvement using lean tools (5S, waste elimination).
• Maintains safety, conducts safety meetings and PPE compliance.
• Reports via tier two accountability board and communicates with next shift.
• Develops team members and supports training and cross-skilling.
• Manages inventory, tooling, and equipment upkeep.
