Job summary

Marinette Marine Corporation seeks skilled machinists to install, assemble and align heavy machinery across multiple shifts. You will use hand and power tools, hoists and cranes to mount equipment and ensure precise fit and alignment.

Responsibilities include fabricating foundations, connecting power units, performing testing, and routine maintenance. The role requires physical fitness, lifting to 50 lbs, working at heights, in confined spaces, and availability across all shifts.

Responsibilities

• Install machinery using hand tools and power tools.
• Assemble machines and fasten to foundations or structures.
• Move machinery with hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
• Dismantle machinery for shipment and assist in installation/maintenance as a team.
• Construct foundations, install robot, and modify programs using teach pendant; shrink-fit bushings and gears as needed.
• Level bedplates and establish centerline; insert shims and adjust tensions for clearances.
• Layout mounting holes and drill with power drill.
• Position steel beams to support bedplates per blueprints.
• Connect power units and piping; test and lubricate machinery; replace parts as needed.
• Signal crane operators to move units and align to centerline.
• Align machines with hoists, jacks, and measuring tools.
• Attach subassemblies and bolt parts to basic assembly unit.

Qualifications, Duties, and Responsibilities:

• 1. Install machinery using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
• 2. Assemble machines, and bolt, weld, rivet, or otherwise fasten them to foundation or other structures, using hand tools and power tools.
• 3. Move machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
• 4. Dismantle machinery and equipment for shipment to installation site, usually performing installation and maintenance work as part of a team.
• 5. Construct foundation for machines, using hand tools and building materials such as wood, cement, and Install robot and modify its program, using teach pendant. Shrink-fit bushings, sleeves, rings, liners, gears, and wheels to specified items, using portable gas heating equipment.
• 6. Level bedplate and establish centerline, using straightedge, levels, and Insert shims, adjust tension on nuts and bolts, or position parts, using hand tools and measuring instruments, to set specified clearances between moving and stationary parts.
• 7. Lay out mounting holes, using measuring instruments, and drill holes with power drill.
• 8. Position steel beams to support bedplates of machines and equipment, using blueprints and schematic drawings, to determine work procedures.
• 9. Connect power unit to machines or steam piping to equipment, and test unit to evaluate its mechanical Replace defective parts of machine or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts. Repair and lubricate machines and equipment.
• 10. Signal crane operator to lower basic assembly units to bedplate and align unit to centerline.
• 11. Align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
• 12. Attach moving parts and subassemblies to basic assembly unit, using hand tools and power Assemble and install equipment, using hand tools and power tools. Bolt parts, such as side and deck plates, jaw plates, and journals, to basic assembly unit.
