Job summary

Astemo Ltd. seeks a Bulge Line Operator for the 3rd shift responsible for safe operation and maintenance of the bulge line, executing quality checks to ensure specifications are met and supporting timely production.

The role requires basic manufacturing knowledge, independent work capability, and strict adherence to safety and 6S standards. Candidates should be ready for overtime and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications

  • 12 months related education/experience in a similar position.
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing machine operation preferred.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain bulge line safely to meet quality specs.
  • Provide line issue information to area supervisor.
  • Adhere to safety policies and 6S practices.
  • Report downtime and assist root cause investigations.
  • Assist in ISO documentation and process control.

Description The Manufacturing

The Manufacturing Bulge Line Operator, 3rd Shift. Safely operates and maintains the bulge line in the area assigned. Performs required quality checks to assure quality specifications are meet. Meets all material service or process flow demands. Provides information regarding line issues to Manufacturing Section Head of the area. Completes the required documentation information regarding the assigned bulge line.

Education And/or Experience
  • 12 months related education, experience and/or training in a similar position
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing machine operation and function preferred.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Background/Skills
  • Minimum of 2 years hands-on experience in a Manufacturing environment.
  • Prefer experience or knowledge of measuring tools, such as, calipers, mics, height gauge, dial indictors, etc.
  • Must be able to work by themselves or with assigned associate.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot Safety, Quality, machine issues, implement C/M, and report to management of assigned area.
  • Ability to be trained to safely operate, manipulate bulge machining processes to assure quality and performance targets.
  • Trained for LOTO (Lock-Out, Tag-Out)
  • Intermediate computer skills for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and Intercompany communication (e-mail).
Special Training/Certifications
  • To be determined by position as needed and the Associate Development Program
Physical Demands:
  • Stand/Walk 8/12 hours per day
  • Work 5-7 days per week
  • Lift up to 35 pounds frequently. Up to 45 pounds when changing fixtures.
  • Ability to do repetitive work.
Work Environment:
  • Must be able to work in extreme heat or cold
  • Must be able to work in an environmental factor such as dust
  • Must be able to work in a noisy environment

Job Responsibilities
  • Adhere to Astemo’s Safety Policy and practices and report any potential unsafe condition or concern to the Safety department immediately and to your direct supervisor
  • Maintain a safe workplace for all associates as well as provides a quality part at the lowest possible cost to our customer.
  • Assists the implementation of Countermeasure, as well as help develop improvements to support, safety, quality, and the productivity of the assigned bulge line in the department. Drives 6S achievement.
  • Perform and support investigations related to safety and quality claims.
  • Supports New Model start up by working with Engineers. Needs to communicate issues or problems that they can for see, such as new jigs, new equipment, and additional processes added. Needs to identify and support new model Geba items.
  • Troubleshoot daily downtime items to get line back up and running when needed. Attend to all machine stoppages throughout the assigned area and take all the necessary steps to get the equipment running within the specifications as soon as possible. Helps in determining Root cause and C/M to prevent future occurrences.
  • Support in replacing or repairing gauges for all the processes in responsible department as well as the ability to update operator checks to ensure the gauge matches the operator check sheets.
  • Assist in the review, checking, collection of ISO controlled documentation and manufacturing forms.
  • Maintain proper waste handling and/or disposal according to Company procedures.
  • Compliant with QS000061 (Control of non-conforming product flow) to assure that non-conforming parts are handled accordingly.
  • Maintains Lot control for area assigned and components listed in PA001615 (4-Wheel manufacturing part scanning requirements).
  • Maintain competence in the areas of Safety & Environmental, Quality, Efficiency and Leadership Development per the Associate Development Program (QS000057))
  • Tracks all PM Projects / Work orders for Thoroughness and completion. Assures that all PM work orders are signed out, completed, and closed out on a timely basis.
  • Operation of production machinery in accordance with Operation Standard or other production related functions such as (but not limited to) material service.
  • Manipulate and maintain Fanuc robots (function, teaching, PM’s)
  • Self-access performance and make improvements or take corrective action as needed.
  • Report all complaints to the SH in a timely manner. Any issue that is not addressed in a timely manner needs to be addressed thru Asst. Manager or Human Resources
