Job summary

Astemo Ltd. is seeking a Manufacturing Technician for the CS SU BU in the Suspension division. This role focuses on supporting the manufacturing area with hands-on equipment maintenance and process improvements.

The candidate will track tasks, assist engineers, and uphold safety while ensuring quality parts at low cost. Flexibility for overtime and diverse duties is required.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good working knowledge of mechanics of process equipment and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to create and track C/M activities and report weekly progress.
  • Intermediate computer skills for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and email.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Safety Policy and report unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain safe workplace while delivering quality parts at lowest cost.
  • Assist implementation of Countermeasures and process improvements.
  • Review QA machines to ensure proper operation and design.
  • Track projects and report weekly progress; communicate issues and request support.
  • Support investigations related to safety and quality claims.
  • Assist New Model startup with Engineers; anticipate issues like new jigs or equipment.
  • Troubleshoot downtime to restore line and determine root cause.
  • Maintain and update ISO controlled documentation and forms.
  • Assist in waste handling according to procedures.

Job Summary

The CS SU BU Manufacturing Technician - Non Exempt Tech Specialist within Astemo Suspension business unit serves to support the many functions of the Manufacturing area.

Education And/or Experience
  • 12 months related education, experience and/or training in a similar position.
  • Previous experience with Kaizen, engineering and 6S preferred.
Background/Skills
  • Minimum of 2 years hands-on experience in a Manufacturing environment.
  • A good working knowledge of the mechanics of the process equipment and troubleshooting skills
  • Must be able create and implement C/M activity and track all projects or task as well as report weekly on progress of projects or tasks that have been assigned.
  • Maintains intermediate computer skills for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and Intercompany communication (e-mail).
  • Must be able to work by themselves or with assigned Engineer.
  • Prefer experience or knowledge of measuring tools, such as, calipers, mics, height gauge, dial indictors, etc.
Special Training/Certifications
  • To be determined by position as needed and the Associate Development Program
  • Ability to obtain and maintain forklift license
Physical Demands:
  • Stand/Walk 8/12 hours per day
  • Work 5-7 days per week
  • Lift up to 35 pounds frequently
  • Ability to do repetitive work
Work Environment:
  • Must be able to work in extreme heat or cold
  • Must be able to work in an environmental factor such as dust

Job Responsibilities
  • Adhere to USSBP1’s Safety Policy and practices and report any potential unsafe condition or concern to the Safety department immediately and to your direct supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe workplace for all associates as well as provides a quality part at the lowest possible cost to our customer.
  • Assists the implementation of Countermeasure, as well as develop improvements to support, safety, quality, and the productivity of the associates in the department.
  • Reviews and checks all QA machines to ensure that they are in functioning order as well as working as designed.
  • Track all projects that are assigned and reports weekly on progress. Also needs to be able to communicate all and any issues that they are having, and request support if needed.
  • Perform and support investigations related to safety and quality claims.
  • Supports New Model start up by working with Engineers. Communicate issues or problems that they can for see, such as new jigs, new equipment, and additional processes added. Identify and support new model Geba items.
  • Help troubleshoot daily downtime items to get line back up and running when needed. Also determine root cause and C/M to prevent future occurrences.
  • Support all items on the associate communication board for the responsible department.
  • Able to create, complete, and track all work orders as problems are resolved as well as identified.
  • Attend to all machine stoppages throughout assigned Area and take all the necessary steps to get the equipment running within the specifications as soon as possible.
  • Fill in and operate lines as needed to support production.
  • Support in replacing or repairing gauges for all the processes in responsible department as well as the ability to update operator checks to ensure the gauge matches the operator check sheets
  • Assist in the review, checking, collection & distribution of ISO controlled documentation and manufacturing forms.
  • Maintain proper waste handling and/or disposal according to Company procedures.
  • Support with any guidelines or priorities set forth by Manager or Engineer.
  • Support internal meetings regarding assigned area of responsibility as well as customer visits.
  • Maintain competence in the areas of Safety & Environmental, Quality, Efficiency and Leadership Development.
