Job summary

Tyson Foods in Newbern, TN is seeking a Machine Operator to keep the production line moving. You will operate equipment, monitor settings, and ensure proper ingredients and supplies are used to maintain quality and safety. The role demands physical work including standing, lifting up to 20 pounds, and possible overtime.

Pay is $23.60 per hour on the 1st shift, with benefits typical of Tyson Foods, and adherence to all safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• 6 months of continuous relevant experience in the last 18 months.
• Ability to perform basic math functions.
• Must be able to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with rapid hand and eye coordination.
• Ability to strenuous flex/grip with wrist/hands frequently.
• Must be able to push/pull/lift with arms up to 20 pounds frequently.
• Must be able to life/lower/carry up to 20 pounds or greater.
• Must be able to stand/walk/bend for long periods.
• Occasional climbing of stairs several times per hour.
• Ability to work in wet and cold temperatures at 35 degrees.
• Able to complete on-the-job paperwork and SAP functions.
• Ability to communicate across management levels.

Job Description

This position is responsible for operating machinery to ensure the continuous flow of product thru the production process and insuring proper ingredients/supplies are being used on the line. Responsible for monitoring and adjusting machine settings as needed and notifying supervisor if machines should require maintenance while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Must have 6 months of continuous employment in the last 18 MThs of relevant machine operator, warehouse, agricultural or production experience.
• Ability to perform basic math functions.
• Must be able to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with rapid hand and eye coordination to move product on a conveyor and/or other processing equipment.
• Ability to strenuous flex/grip with wrist/hands frequently (10 -15 flexion/minute).
• Must be able to push/pull/lift with arms below waist/at shoulder/above shoulder level 20 pounds frequently. (At times <5 reps/minute)
• Must be able to life/lower/carry up to 20 pounds or greater with back and legs.
• Must be able to constantly stand/stoop/walk/bend.
• Occasional climbing of stairs several times per hour when required.
• Ability to work in wet and cold temperatures at 35 degrees.
• Able to complete all paperwork and SAP functions as required for position.
• Ability to complete on-the-job paperwork and effectively communicate across all management levels.
• This position does not accept rehires.
