Job summary

Tyson Foods in Newbern, TN is hiring for an entry-level equipment operator role on 1st shift. The job starts at $23.80 per hour with shift increases for 2nd/3rd shifts and overtime potential.

You will set up equipment, run KP machines and maintain safety and quality standards in a cold production area. This role requires basic math, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and comfort working around machinery and chemicals.

Qualifications

• Basic Math skills and ability to become certified in Lock Out tag Out Program.
• Must be willing and able to work on and around machinery and chemicals.
• Must be willing and able to work in temperatures <= 35 F for 8 hours.
• Must be willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Minimum 6 months cumulative industrial maintenance experience or equivalent training.
• Must have 6 months continuous employment in the last 18 months; preferred related experience.
• Must be willing to work on 1st shift.

Responsibilities

• Set up equipment for startup and operate KP machines while following safety rules.
• Set up V-Mag stuffer/grinder and KP machines.
• Move empty racks into position and load logs onto racks.
• Send out correct diameters of slicing logs to freezer.
• Change film as needed and inspect equipment for issues.
• Identify and strip out defective logs and drain water from equipment.
• Set up and breakdown grinders and record grinder plate conditions.
• Inform QA and Production Supervisor of equipment or material issues.
• Assist Maintenance with identifying and correcting machine problems.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment in the department.

POSITION SUMMARY

Set up equipment in preparation for startup, and responsible for operating case packer, while also being able to adhere to good safety practices, food safety policies, and company policies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Set up equipment in preparation for startup, and responsible for the running the KP machines, while also adhering to good safety practices, food safety policies, and company policies.
• Set up V-Mag stuffer/grinder and KP machines.
• Move empty racks into position for loading and loading logs onto racks.
• Send out correct diameters of slicing logs to freezer.
• Chang film as needed.
• Identify and stripping out defective logs.
• Drain water from bottom of KP and inspecting equipment.
• Set up and breaking down grinders.
• Record condition of grinder plates on grinder inspection sheets and turning in to lead/supervisor.
• Inform QA and Production Supervisor in the event of issues with equipment/grinder or raw materials.
• Informs and assists Maintenance persons in identifying and correcting problems with machines.
• Performs PM's on equipment in assigned Department.

REQUIREMENTS

• PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
• Basic Math Skills and ability to become certified in Lock Out tag Out Program.
• Must be willing and able to work on and around machinery and chemicals.
• Must be willing and able to work in temperatures less than or equal to 35 degrees Fahrenheit temperature for minimum of 8 hours.
• Must be willing and able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
• Must be willing and able to perform the following task for periods of 8 hours on concrete floor, some of which may include but is not limited to bending, twisting, reaching, standing, stooping, walking, climbing, and lifting.
• Must have a minimum of 6 months cumulative industrial maintenance experience or equivalent training.
• Must be willing and able to pinch/grip product and place into specified location.
• Must have 6 MThs continuous employment in the last 18 months. Preferred candidates will have at least 6 MThs of relevant machine operator, warehouse, agriculture or production experience.
