Job summary

Moog Inc. in Blacksburg, VA is seeking a Machine Shop Value Stream Manager to lead safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance. You will develop strategies to boost productivity, guide lean improvements, and drive operational excellence across the value stream.

You will coach leaders, manage budgets and staffing, oversee capacity planning, and collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and cross-functional teams to meet customer commitments and enable long-term shop growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical, engineering, manufacturing, or business discipline.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing, operations, or technical environment.
• 7+ years of direct supervision/leadership.
• Strong knowledge of machine shop operations, machining processes, and manufacturing best practices.
• Experience leading Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, Kaizen, and waste reduction initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance of the Machine Shop Value Stream.
• Develop and execute strategies to improve productivity, efficiency, and overall operational performance.
• Drive a culture of continuous improvement through Lean principles and waste elimination.
• Coach, develop, and support leaders and employees to build a high-performing team.
• Manage machine shop resources, budgets, staffing plans, and capital investments.
• Oversee capacity planning and workflow to ensure production schedules and customer commitments are met.
• Partner with Engineering, Quality, and Advanced Manufacturing teams to improve processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align priorities with business objectives.
• Support modernization and long-term growth of the machine shop through process and technology advancements.
• Ensure customer requirements are met while focusing on safety, quality, and operational excellence.
