Job summary

Van-Am Tool & Engineering is seeking a Machine Shop/Tool Room Supervisor to oversee daily operations in an AS9100-certified manufacturing environment. The role drives safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and employee development while ensuring precision machined components meet customer and regulatory requirements.

The position supervises CNC and manual machining, coordinates production across departments, and supports continuous improvement initiatives in a modern precision machining

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of machining experience, including CNC machining.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, or AS9100 environment preferred.
• Knowledge of machining processes, tooling, GD&T, and production planning.
• Ability to coach employees and improve operational performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop machinists to meet safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals.
• Coordinate production schedules, staffing, machine utilization and workflow.
• Ensure compliance with AS9100, drawings, GD&T, and internal quality procedures.
• Monitor KPIs such as productivity, scrap, rework, downtime, and on-time delivery.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Scheduling, Maintenance, and Production leadership to resolve issues.
• Champion Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement while maintaining a safe workplace.

Van-Am Tool & Engineering is seeking an experienced Machine Shop/Tool Room Supervisor to oversee daily machine shop operations in our AS9100-certified manufacturing environment. This leadership role is responsible for driving safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and employee development while ensuring precision machined components consistently meet customer and regulatory requirements. The position supervises CNC and manual machining operations, coordinates production activities across multiple departments, and supports continuous improvement initiatives.

What You Will Do

• Lead and develop machinists and machining personnel to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives.
• Coordinate production schedules, staffing, machine utilization, and workflow.
• Ensure compliance with AS9100, customer specifications, engineering drawings, GD&T, and internal quality procedures.
• Monitor departmental KPIs including productivity, scrap, rework, downtime, and on-time delivery.
• Partner with Engineering, Quality, Scheduling, Maintenance, and Production leadership to resolve issues and improve operational performance.
• Champion Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining a safe, organized workplace.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of machining experience, including CNC machining, with previous manufacturing leadership or supervisory experience.
• Experience in an aerospace, defense, precision manufacturing, or AS9100-certified environment is strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, blueprint reading, GD&T, ERP systems, and production planning.
• Proven ability to coach employees, solve problems, manage priorities, and improve operational performance.
